Summer is right around the corner, which means that good weather enjoyed on rooftops and laughs with friends are on the horizon.
Trust me. We are ready.
I know we all love music and each of us spend lots of time finding new artists to listen to or making the perfect playlist for every occasion. Today I want to tell you about a few guys that are making waves in mainstream music while staying true to themselves.
1. Goldlink-Listen on Spotify
If you don’t do anything else this week please get in to Goldlink and his latest album, At What Cost. His distinct flows set him apart from the general population of rappers. This album has many upbeat songs that will have you unconsciously dancing. After a couple listens to Same Clothes As Yesterday, I promise you’ll be a believer.
2. Sango-Listen on Spotify

This guy right here is one of my favorite producers. Sango’s music is heavily influenced by Brazilian favela music. So much that a lot of the lyrics are in Portuguese. Don’t fret. You don’t need to understand the lyrics to jam. Respeita, which means respect, is my go-to track from his most recent album, De Mim, Pra Voce.
3. Jidenna-Listen on Spotify
Wondaland Record’s dapper rapper dropped his debut album, The Chief in the middle of February this year. Jidenna pays homage to his Nigerian roots while weaving in elements of classic Hip-Hop, Trap, and R&B. Trampoline is one of its stand out tracks.
4. Kaytranada-Listen on Spotify
Another poppin’ producer. Kaytranada has a ton of production credits under his belt. He’s responsible for banging remixes of popular artists’ like Janet Jackson, TLC, and Missy Elliot. If you give Got It Good from last year’s 99.9% a play you won’t be disappointed.
5. Childish Gambino- Listen on Spotify
I’m pretty sure this guy doesn’t need an introduction. I’ve been a Gambino girl since 2011. CG’s music is peak quirky vibes. He’s known for writing jokes for popular network tv shows and spitting comedic punchlines. The release of Awaken, My Love! exposed fans to his new, funky sound. Everyone’s talking about Redbone and if you aren’t, press play to hear why.
What music festivals are you going to this summer?
