Trinidadian Cosplayer, Panterona Cosplay Reflects On Over A Decade Of Cosplay
Meet the veteran cosplayer behind Panterona Cosplay. After working consistently to build a following around her brand, Panterona Cosplay has grown into a destination for her inspirational cosplays. We got the opportunity to learn more about this cosplaying superstar below:
Tell us a little bit about yourself?
I'm a cosplayer from Trinidad and Tobago! I love food, travel, creating costumes and crafting! Did I mention how much I love food? :D
How long have you been cosplaying?
For 13 years.
What are some of your hobbies?
Eating, Cosplay, Dancing, Drawing, and fangirling over things like Yuri on Ice!
Do you prefer to cosplay alone or with a group?
Both are fun actually! Groups get me to make the costume faster though.
What is your most expensive Cosplay?
That's pretty tough as I don't keep track of how much I spend. I'm going to hazard a guess and say Demona because it took me the longest to make.
What was your first convention?
Anime City in Trinidad and Tobago!
If you could do you dream cosplay, what would it be and why?
I don't really have a dream cosplay per se. I have a couple costumes I'm itching to make if I ever get the chance to compete in a big competition again but that's about it. I keep those in a secret folder on my computer.
How do you save for your cosplays?
I don't. I just make what I can afford. My Patreon has helped me make a lot more cosplays than I usually would so I'm really grateful for everyone's support on there!
What got you into cosplaying?
I saw someone cosplay my favorite character and thought I could do it better. Since then, I've grown up a bit and just love creating new things for the heck of it!
Do you sew or buy your costumes?
I've never bought a costume but I'm not opposed to it! If ever I see a premade costume that I like, I'd definitely order it!
Any advice for POC cosplayers worried about "being outside their skintones"?
Cosplay whoever you want to! Just don't be offensive and have fun. Those are the only rules to cosplay, and if anyone tells you otherwise, fire fih dem!
Who is your favorite Cosplayer?
Oh Lawd! I've way too many to just choose one. This is legit the hardest question you gave me!
Any Advice for Newbie Cosplayers?
Don't bite off more than you can chew, start small but dream big! If you keep it up you will constantly grow, and do bigger and better things at a pace you are comfortable with!
